Llama butts...or shall we say derierres?

You know, you don't intentionally take a picture of your animal's behind, but no sooner do you get the camera focused than they turn away and bend over and ....voila...Lllama butts! And I have to say that llamas must have the most graceful bottoms that I have ever seen! So I decided, why fight it...let's celebrate the camelid posteriors. Happy Llama Derierre Day!

A Roll in The Hay

Anyone for a "roll in the hay"? Apparently my llama Blue Skies was up for it! We prepared the barn for winter last weekend...cleaned out the hay barn, put down fresh straw (otherwise known as "junk food") dug a new drainage ditch, and generally cleaned stuff up. I was pretty proud of us! But the best part of this yearly process is the fact that it is the first in a series of what we call "hay days". There is nothing a llama loves better than a good roll...neck down, head rubbing, scratching the back, feet in the air! And till you've seen it...you haven't lived! It's almost impossible to catch them in the act, but my hubby got a pretty good shot of Blue Skies, so I thought I'd share it; along with a few other very happy, very dirty llama pics :)

Olivia's New Clothes

Hopefully, I'll be able to get this post to "take"...I think I am blogger-challenged! Anyhow, we finally finished shearing this last week and decided to try and "blanket" Olivia. Her coat is so fine and curly, but it has a lot of oil also. Consequently, EVERYTHING sticks to her...I call her my little "velcro goat". The other advantage of a blanket is it should help keep her warm and toasty in case the bigger goats kick her out of the barn. At least that's the idea. Now if i can just keep her from getting stuck on everything from fencing to doghouses....
